The idea
Technology should help the work work together.
Each separate tool does its own job well enough. The difficulty is between them. People become the connectors, carrying information from one place to another by hand, and the organization pays for that in time, in errors and in attention taken away from the work itself.
ALINEA SYSTEMS starts from a different premise: operations, people, documents and customers belong to the same organization, and should share the same understanding of it.
Philosophy
Three convictions
Software should be modular
No two organizations are alike, and none should have to adopt everything at once. Modular applications on a shared foundation let an organization start where it hurts and grow from there, without a rewrite.
Technology should be practical
The measure of a system is whether it reduces effort in ordinary working days. We favor features that people use every day over features that demonstrate well.
Workflows should be connected
A customer, an employee or a purchase is the same thing wherever it appears. When records and decisions travel between tools without being retyped, errors fall and attention returns to the work.
